In February 2003 Philip Thurman and Greg Miller knew without a doubt that God wanted them to begin the process of starting a church that would eventually locate in the Gluckstadt area west of I-55. This vision had been years in the making. Both of these men had individually experienced God’s call before they met each other in the fall of 2001 at a conference they attended in San Antonio, Texas. Their friendship developed as they spent time eating, talking, and praying together while they served in separate churches in Jackson. Eventually they realized God had brought them together to start a new church.

Philip and Greg talked with leaders at the churches they were serving as well as with others in the Metro area. They received encouragement and support to enable them to start a new church. Both men sensed God was calling them to begin a different type of church that utilized contemporary music and technology in worship, home-based small groups, and creative methods. They did this to reach out with the love and life offered by Jesus Christ to many in the culture who viewed church as generally out of touch with society and particularly irrelevant to their lives.

In September 2003 both men left their respective churches and began LifeBridge Church. After an informational meeting on October 5, 2003, 16 adults and a number of children began meeting together regularly on Sunday evenings in homes for prayer, fellowship, and Bible study. After a few months their number had grown to the point where homes would no longer accommodate the group and they began to look for a larger place.

In February 2004 the group began meeting on Sunday mornings at Madison Middle School. They celebrated their official launch as a church in September 2004. Eventually they were one of three new churches meeting in different parts of the school! Eventually our numbers continued to grow such that we were looking for additional space.

In August 2005 LifeBridge began meeting at Madison Station Elementary School.

In June 2007 we purchased 15 acres of land on Gluckstadt Road (across the road from Providence subdivision; east of the Reunion Equestrian Center).

Currently we are in the process of constructing our first building. We anticipate being in this new building by the fall of 2010.
